I believe that within each of us lies a spirit that has an energy too powerful and dynamic to reside in a soul. It is of the moment. When we remind ourselves to “calm down”, we are commanding that the spirit be released. A Release of the Spirit is a reminder that, should be want to have a calmer moment, that spirit needs to be released. This work shows that process.
The fleshy, peach, pinks, and magenta colors in this work symbolize the various thriving components in our physical selves and t he few darker specks any negative energy within. The white lines can be seen as the electric energy of the process. The large, vertical rectangular canvas contains the abstracted vertical form of the human body, bridging the gap between non-objective art and portraiture.
