SUZANNE MARCELLE

“I don’t paint places, I paint the feeling of being within them. The silence between waves, the weight of stone, the breath of wind. That’s where the real landscape lives.”

Suzanne Marcelle is a French contemporary artist whose work bridges the sensory and the elemental. A graduate of the renowned École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts de Paris-Cergy, she has spent the past 25 years in the South of France, nestled between the sea and mountains near Bandol. This landscape, its shifting light, textures, and rhythms, has become both her muse and her medium.

Marcelle’s practice is rooted in the idea of landscape not as a fixed image, but as a lived experience. Her paintings and mixed-media works evoke the quiet power of nature: the weight of stone, the breath of wind, the pulse of water. She draws inspiration from the raw materials of the earth, plants, minerals, soil and transforms them into compositions that feel immersive, tactile, and deeply meditative.

Over the years, Marcelle has exhibited in solo and group shows across Paris and Brussels, and participated in major international art fairs including FIAC in Paris. Her work has entered private and public collections, appreciated for its emotional depth and its ability to create space for reflection and connection.
