This piece is created in the tradition of Mughal miniature painting, executed using gouache on handmade Wasli paper. The pigments are prepared by hand, using natural colors bound with gum arabic and safeeda, an organic white pigment traditionally used in miniature painting.
The Wasli paper itself is meticulously crafted through a layered process, then burnished to a smooth sheen and toned with tea or coffee washes to achieve its characteristic warmth and depth.
The painting technique follows the classical fine-layer method, applied with handmade squirrel-hair brushes that allow for exceptionally delicate detailing. While grounded in historic methods, the work embraces a contemporary aesthetic and conceptual approach, blending the precision of traditional miniature art with modern visual expression.
