Cope is a piece from a collection called “The Art Of Motherhood, Unseen Realities” by Nicky Backlund. The body of work is intended to bring to the forefront the realities of being a mother, acknowledging the emotional roller coaster that we experience and live daily, which often goes unseen or misunderstood. For me, motherhood represents a proufound level of human connection not only between myself and my children but also among all mothers, parents and caregovrs. Cope is a very personal piece to Nicky and is representative of times she struggled to just keep her head above water.
