“Voicing the Body” by Ruby Vartan is a four-panel oil painting (12 x 12 inches each) created through the direct imprint and tracing of my body. This work explores how the body becomes both the source and the vessel of expression—an active voice rather than a silent form. Through layered gesture, mark-making, and physical presence, “Voicing the Body” reflects themes of identity, embodiment, and the dialogue between inner emotion and outward form.
